Job Summary
This role is ideal for an HR professional looking to build a strong operational foundation with a clear path to grow into an HR Generalist role as the organization scales. We're looking for someone with excellent customer service instincts, strong attention to detail, and solid verbal and written communication skills, who is comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. The HR Coordinator will also provide administrative support to payroll as needed, including recordkeeping, file maintenance, and HRIS entry. The company is in active growth mode.
Key Responsibilities
HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle
• Manage onboarding and offboarding, including documentation, systems updates, and employee communication
• Maintain accurate HRIS records and personnel files
Employee Relations
• Serve as a day-to-day resource for HR-related questions and support
• Assist with employee relations matters, including performance concerns, investigations, and final pays, under the guidance of the HR Director
• Help foster a positive, compliant, and supportive workplace culture
Policy Implementation & Compliance
• Support the rollout and maintenance of HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook
• Assist the HR Director in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, with particular attention to
California regulations
• Support documentation, internal controls, and governance initiatives
• Partner closely with Payroll and Operations
• Coordinate with the HR Director on HR matters as needed
Compensation & Benefits Administration
• Help administer the 401(k) program
• Support compensation reviews and bonus administration
Talent Acquisition
• Support job postings
• Help ensure a smooth, positive candidate experience
Qualifications
• 2 to 5 years of HR experience
• Basic understanding of U.S. employment law, with a focus on California labor regulations
• Hands-on experience in HR operations, employee relations, and HRIS
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams
Preferred Qualifications
• HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR) and/or a Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field, or experience in the restaurant industry.
