At Bay Area Woodworking, we build high-end custom cabinetry and architectural millwork for commercial and residential projects across the Bay Area. Our work demands precision, problem-solving, and craftsmanship at a high level.
We are looking for a Lead Builder — someone who thrives on the shop floor, takes ownership of complex work, and leads by example through hands-on execution.
Position Overview:
This is a 100% hands-on role. The Lead Builder will take on the most complex and demanding fabrication work, help set up jobs for the team, and ensure production moves efficiently through the shop.
This is not an office or coordination role. The right candidate will spend the majority of their time building, solving problems, and driving production forward from the floor.
Key Responsibilities:
-Execute complex builds, custom assemblies, and high-precision work
-Set up jobs, jigs, and processes so the team can work efficiently
-Troubleshoot fabrication challenges and resolve issues in real time
-Work closely with engineering and project management to interpret drawings
-Ensure quality standards are met throughout production
-Assist and guide team members through difficult tasks
-Maintain strong shop organization and workflow
Qualifications:
-5+ years in custom cabinetry or architectural millwork
-Strong understanding of joinery, materials, and fabrication methods
-Ability to read and interpret shop drawings
-Experience with CNC workflows and production environments preferred
-High attention to detail and problem-solving ability
-Self-driven with strong ownership mentality
