About Hiptwist Fitness
Hiptwist Fitness is an independently owned boutique Pilates and recovery studio in San Mateo, California. We bring together expert-led Tower Reformer Pilates, functional movement, and recovery experiences in a welcoming, design-forward environment.
Our philosophy is simple: strength, mobility, and recovery are essential to living well, for longer.
We're building more than a fitness studio. We're creating a community where clients feel known, supported, and empowered to invest in their long-term well-being.
As we grow, we're looking for an experienced, hands-on Studio Operations & Sales Manager to lead our front-of-house operations, develop our sales processes, and help deliver an exceptional member experience.
The Opportunity
This is a key leadership position for someone who thrives at the intersection of people, operations, and sales.
You'll take ownership of the daily studio experience, lead and develop our Studio Advisors, and create the systems and accountability that keep everything running smoothly.
We're looking for someone who is as comfortable coaching a team member through a sales conversation as they are building an SOP, resolving a client issue, or identifying an opportunity to improve performance.
This is a hands-on role. We need someone who enjoys being present in the studio, leading by example, and taking initiative rather than waiting for direction.
What You'll Own
1. Sales & Membership Growth
Own the studio's front-of-house sales performance, including membership conversions, intro-offer follow-ups, package sales, and retention opportunities.
Develop and implement clear, repeatable sales processes that feel consultative, welcoming, and consistent with Hiptwist's premium positioning.
Manage the lead pipeline, ensuring timely outreach, thoughtful follow-up, and clear accountability.
Train and coach Studio Advisors on sales conversations, objection handling, membership recommendations, and client relationship management.
Establish and monitor sales KPIs, including lead response times, intro-to-member conversion, follow-up completion, and individual team performance.
Identify opportunities to improve the client journey, from first inquiry through membership and beyond.
Partner with the founder on sales initiatives, promotions, and strategies to support sustainable revenue growth.
2. Front Desk Team Leadership
Lead, schedule, train, and manage our team of Studio Advisors.
Establish clear roles, responsibilities, expectations, and performance standards.
Own staff onboarding and ongoing training to ensure consistent service and operational knowledge.
Conduct regular team check-ins, coaching sessions, and performance reviews.
Manage shift coverage, attendance, scheduling, and day-to-day accountability.
Create a positive, collaborative team culture grounded in professionalism, initiative, and excellent customer service.
Address performance concerns promptly, constructively, and consistently.
3. Studio Operations & SOPs
Develop, document, implement, and continuously improve standard operating procedures across all front-of-house activities.
Own opening and closing procedures, front desk checklists, shift handoffs, and daily operational workflows.
Ensure consistency in booking management, client check-ins, payments, retail transactions, and member account administration.
Maintain accurate client records, sales activity, and operational documentation in the studio management system.
Establish quality-control processes to reduce errors, missed follow-ups, and inconsistent client experiences.
Oversee front-of-house readiness, retail presentation, inventory coordination, and overall studio organization.
Identify operational inefficiencies and proactively implement solutions.
4. Member Experience & Retention
Set and uphold Hiptwist's standards for hospitality, professionalism, and personalized service.
Build meaningful relationships with members and help foster a strong sense of community.
Handle escalated client questions, concerns, and service recovery with empathy and sound judgment.
Ensure the team understands membership offerings, policies, class formats, and recovery services.
Monitor member feedback and identify opportunities to improve satisfaction and retention.
Support studio events, member appreciation initiatives, and community-building activities in partnership with the founder and marketing team.
5. Reporting & Business Performance
Track and report key operational and sales metrics on a weekly basis.
Monitor individual and team sales performance, conversion rates, and follow-up activity.
Identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
Maintain visibility into front desk staffing costs and operational efficiency.
Provide the founder with concise, actionable updates and recommendations.
Take ownership of agreed-upon goals and drive initiatives through to completion.
