that’s the problem I solve.
I’m Michael and I’ve spent more than 25 years working one-on-one with high school and college students in math and science. My focus isn’t on memorizing procedures or cramming for exams. It’s on helping ideas finally make sense.
I’m a clear explainer, but more importantly, I’m good at figuring out where understanding breaks down and rebuilding from there. I use stories, diagrams, metaphors, and (when it helps) a bit of humor to make difficult concepts feel human and understandable.
I work best with curious, motivated students who genuinely want to understand what they’re learning.
This is probably a good fit if:
• You want real understanding, not just procedures.
• You’re tired of material feeling arbitrary or fragmented.
• You enjoy asking questions and talking ideas through.
This is probably not a good fit if:
• You need last-minute exam prep.
• You’re looking for quick homework answers.
• You want someone to teach tricks without explaining why they work.
Subjects include:
• Math from algebra through calculus
• Physics
• Introductory college-level chemistry and biology
• More advanced math topics with preparation
All lessons are conducted online.
My standard rate is $110/hour. All lessons are conducted online. Geography is not important; finding the right student-teacher match is.
