Underglass Custom Picture Framing is looking for an experienced custom picture framer to join our team!
We’re a small, busy, independent frame shop located right on Market Street in the heart of San Francisco’s vibrant Castro neighborhood. We’ve been part of the San Francisco framing community for many years, and we take a lot of pride in doing beautiful, thoughtful work for our customers.
We’re looking for one experienced framer who knows their way around a frame shop and can jump right in. This is a part-time position, 3 days a week, with weekends required.
Please apply only if you have professional custom picture framing experience. We’re looking for someone with at least 2 years of experience who is comfortable with both the hands-on side of framing and working directly with customers.
What you’ll be doing:
A big part of the job is helping customers figure out how to best frame their artwork. You should enjoy talking with people, have a good eye for design, and be able to confidently recommend frames, mats, glazing, and other materials.
You should have hands-on experience with:
Helping clients choose frame designs, mats, and materials
Customer service and sales
POS / picture framing software
Proper handling of artwork, including paintings on paper and canvas, pastels, photographs, digital prints, lithographs, posters, 3D artwork, and original artwork
Archival and conservation framing
Cutting and handling glass and acrylic
Professional fitting and finishing
Photoshop and/or Epson Print Layout is a plus
Experience with a Wizard mat cutter is a plus
We’re looking for someone who is detail-oriented, reliable, friendly, and takes pride in their work. You should be comfortable working independently but also enjoy being part of a small team.
