I have had many positive and also negative experiences obtaining help with household repairs from folks who advertise on Craigslist. About two months ago I hired a handyman to snake out the silt blocking a drain outside by tenant's studio. During the stormy winter days I always feel that this room is vulnerable to flooding so am diligent about having it snaked with regularity. I spent $140 for work that didn't do the job and also flooded the very studio that I was trying to protect.
Within weeks of completions of that job the drains were clogged. So, I took a deep breath, and sought new help to get the job done effectively. I saw Nick's ad and was thrilled that he seemed experienced, knowledgeable, and yes, affordable. He arrived at our scheduled appointment on time, assessed the situation, and gave me a reasonable quote for time and labor. Shortly into the job he saw that the problem I was having was more complex than anticipated. He had the ability to analyze exactly what the problem was and explain in language that I could understand, a means to fix it.
Although I had not planned to do more extensive and expensive plumbing, Nick described a solution that would save me future worry and expense snaking the drain twice every winter. He also, hearing my budget limits, found a way to do this job at a rate I could find sufficient funds for. He supervised the men working for him, stayed on the job for three days, and left the work area clean and neat. Unlike my oft repeated experience with people in the skilled trades, he was true to his word and got the job done.
I would highly recommend Nick to anyone who needs help with plumbing be it repair, improvement, or new construction. He is honest, reliable, affable, and someone you can trust. I have experienced only one disappointment from my interactions with Nick, I didn't have enough money to pay him what his time deserved. He honored his quote for the job and did not earn what his time and skill merited. Hopefully, in the future, when I need his help, I'll have sufficient funds to pay him a bit more.
