One parenting win was encouraging my kids to build from spare parts and pieces. There is no need to buy art materials when the world is teeming w them. Reuse to benefit all. What you will need is some glue. Pipe cleaners are magical to join parts.
My daughter, as kids will do, collected discarded and lost objects around the neighborhood. Hardware, one earring, bottle caps, etc.
After amassing a collection she would form machines and sculptures, like 3d collages.
Now that I think of it, Picasso did the same but on a grand scale!
