Very clean Klein Q Pro road bike with Klein's distinctive silver-to-blue gradient finish. The frame is in excellent condition for its age, and the bike has been fully tuned. Everything runs smoothly and shifts precisely.
Klein was one of the pioneers of high-performance aluminum bicycles in the 1990s, and the Q Pro is a great example of what made the company special. This is a USA-made frame built from Klein's proprietary Zr 9000 zirconium-enhanced aluminum tubing, with Klein's distinctive oversized Gradient tube construction. The result was a frame that was exceptionally light and stiff for its time without giving up the responsive ride quality Klein bikes became known for. The combination of the unusual tubing, sculpted frame, carbon fork, and integrated carbon rear stays makes this quite different from an ordinary 1990s aluminum road bike.
The bike is equipped with a Shimano Ultegra 6500 3x9 speed drivetrain, including Ultegra shifters and derailleurs and a 52/39/30t triple crankset paired with an 11-28t cassette. That's a very useful gear range for Bay Area riding, giving you plenty of high gears for fast roads while the small 30t chainring makes steep climbs much more manageable.
The Bontrager Race Lite 700c clincher wheels are true and spin smoothly. There are also some nice upgrades, including a Selle Italia Superflow saddle, Zipp Service Course handlebars, MSW stem, and brand-new iridescent Shimano Pro bar tape that happens to look fantastic with the Klein's blue gradient paint.
As a bike mechanic, I went through the bike carefully to make sure everything works exactly as it should. Shifting is crisp, brakes are properly adjusted, bearings are smooth, and the bike has been fully tuned. It needs nothing and is ready to ride.
The 50cm frame would fit riders approximately 5'1" to 5'5", depending on inseam and riding position.
I collect and restore vintage bikes, and I enjoy bringing gently used more recent models back to like-new condition. It’s always rewarding to see them back on the road, helping people stay active and reduce car use. I also offer repairs and tune-ups for the bikes I sell - please check out my Instagram - sfbikemarket.
