Hi there!
I am a doctor and I run a small company that publishes study guides for pediatricians. I have a booth at a large medical conference at the San Diego Convention Center and I need two people to help me move materials in and set up, and then to help pack up and move out afterwards.
WHAT THE JOB IS
SET UP: either Thursday October 1 or Friday October 2. Move-in runs 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on the Thursday and 8:00 am to 7:00 pm on the Friday. I expect to do it on the Thursday, and I will confirm the day and the start time with you as soon as it is fixed. Please tell me if you can do one day or both.
The work: collect boxes from my hotel on Broadway downtown, bring them to the convention center, and help me set up the booth. Books, banners, flyers and display stands. Roughly 300 pounds in total.
PACK UP: Monday October 5, after the show closes. The same in reverse, back to the hotel.
PLEASE READ THIS PART CAREFULLY
The convention center does not allow exhibitors to use dollies, hand trucks or trolleys INSIDE the exhibit hall. Everything has to be carried by hand, from the public parking area, in through the front of the hall. It is a real carry and there will be a lot of trips. I am telling you this up front because it is the part people do not expect.
A hand truck or trolley IS still useful at the hotel end and for loading, so please tell me if you have one.
WHAT I NEED FROM YOU
- This is physically demanding work. You will be repeatedly lifting and carrying boxes of books weighing 30 to 50 pounds each, walking them a distance, and doing that for several hours with ten to fifteen round trips. Please only apply if you can genuinely do that.
- Reliable and on time. If you say you will be there, be there.
- At least one of you needs a vehicle. The hotel and the venue are about a mile apart.
- No experience required. I will be there the whole time and I will tell you exactly what goes where.
HOURS AND PAY
$25 per hour. The set up day is roughly a half day and Monday afternoon is similar. I will pay you for the hours you are actually there.
Please reply and tell me:
1. Which set up day you can do, Thursday October 1, Friday October 2, or either.
2. Whether you can also do Monday October 5 for the pack up.
3. Whether you have a truck or van, and whether you have a hand truck or trolley.
4. Anything you have done before that is like this, and confirmation that you are comfortable with the lifting described above.
A phone number in your reply helps, as it is easier to sort out quickly. Thanks!
