The Front Desk Supervisor leads the host stand and front-of-house flow, ensuring every guest is greeted, seated, and served promptly and warmly. This role owns the dining room’s floor plan and pacing and coordinates the To-Go program — acting as the first and last impression of the restaurant.
Key Responsibilities
Host Desk & Guest Flow
Train new hosts on standards and systems
Manage reservations, waitlists, and walk-ins using the reservation/POS system
Answer phones professionally; handle reservation changes and guest inquiries
Resolve guest concerns at the door and escalate to management when needed
Dining Room Seating
Own the floor plan — seat guests to balance server sections and maximize turns without overloading any station
Communicate continuously with servers and kitchen on table status, large parties, and pacing
Monitor dining room flow during peak periods and adjust seating strategy in real time
Coordinate special requests: highchairs, accessibility needs, celebrations, large parties
To-Go Program
Oversee To-Go order accuracy, packaging standards, and pickup timing
Ensure phone and online orders are entered correctly and communicated to the kitchen
Coordinate To-Go coverage during peak windows
Handle guest issues (wrong orders, delays, dining-room service issues) with quick, professional resolution
