Job description
The Lead Carpenter plays a crucial role in overseeing small teams of 1-3 members performing commercial carpentry tasks for new builds, renovations, and restorations. This leadership position involves mentoring journeymen and apprentices, ensuring work quality, and maintaining compliance with building codes and safety standards.
Responsibilities
Train, coach, and mentor journeyman and apprentice carpenters to improve skills and team performance
Fabricate metal structures and frame walls and partitions
Install cabinets, countertops, molding, doors, and various hardware
Build concrete forms for foundations, walls, and structural elements
Install siding materials including vinyl, wood, and fiber cement
Demolish, restore, or repair damaged structures
Ensure all work complies with building codes and regulations
Manage a small team effectively on commercial construction projects
Preferred Qualifications
15+ years of experience in commercial carpentry
Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical drawings
Strong leadership and team management skills
Deep understanding of construction methods and materials
Accuracy in measuring and cutting materials to specifications
Commitment to safety compliance and best practices
Physical stamina to perform heavy lifting and prolonged standing
Effective communication and problem-solving abilities
