Shad season starts on the Russian River mid April and on the Sac a cuppla weeks later. Then onto the Feather, Yuba and American Rivers. These flies can be fished effectively on spinning tackle as well as fly rods. There are a few ways to rig them for a positive result.

Tried and true patterns for American shad. Size 4 hook, assortment of patterns, at least what's left.

Final disposition. There are 9 used flies and 55 new ones, plus box.
