7 Spears Martial Arts is hiring a Part-Time Martial Arts Instructor!
Are you an outgoing, energetic martial artist who loves teaching children and helping people grow?
We're looking for an experienced martial arts instructor to join our team and teach at our Poway and Rancho Bernardo locations.
Our primary martial arts style is Tang Soo Do, and we are looking for someone with a black belt in Tang Soo Do, Shotokan, or Tae Kwon Do.
⭐ THIS POSITION REQUIRES:
Previous teaching experience is REQUIRED, with significant experience teaching children strongly preferred.
We are specifically looking for someone who is:

Confident leading a class

Comfortable giving instruction and corrections
Able to create energy and excitement in a classroom
A strong communicator

This is NOT a position for someone who simply enjoys martial arts but has little or no teaching experience.
We need someone who already understands how to lead a class, manage children, communicate effectively, and create a fun but structured learning environment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Teach martial arts classes for children and adults
Teach at both our Poway and Rancho Bernardo locations
Lead classes with energy, confidence, and professionalism
Follow and teach the 7 Spears curriculum
Create a positive, engaging, and structured class environment
Teach martial arts techniques safely and effectively
Encourage and challenge students
Help students develop confidence, discipline, character, and leadership
Maintain appropriate class structure and mat behavior
Give students positive feedback and appropriate corrections
Build strong relationships with students and families
Assist with Ninja Nights, tournaments, demonstrations, birthday parties, and special events
Work with other instructors as part of a team
Continue developing your own martial arts and teaching skills
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Black belt in Tang Soo Do, Shotokan, or Tae Kwon Do
Previous martial arts teaching experience
Experience teaching children
Outgoing, energetic personality
Strong communication skills
Comfortable leading groups
18+ years old
Reliable transportation
Reliable and punctual
Available to work evenings and some weekends
Able to travel between our Poway and Rancho Bernardo locations
Willing to learn and follow the 7 Spears teaching system
Professional and receptive to coaching and feedback
PAY & GROWTH OPPORTUNITY
Starting pay: $20/hour
There is potential for increased pay as you become trained, take on additional responsibilities, and demonstrate strong performance.
We have a structured instructor growth path:
Level 1 – Assistant Instructor
Learn our curriculum, class structure, safety, student interaction, and teaching fundamentals.
Level 2 – Instructor
Take greater responsibility for classes, student development, teaching quality, and leadership.
Level 3 – Lead Instructor
Take responsibility for programs, other instructors, class quality, and greater leadership within the academy.
For the right person, there are also opportunities to grow beyond teaching into program leadership, management, and future leadership opportunities within the organization.
