You know the end times are coming. Why not have a bike that will fit right into the Mad Max hellscape of the near future?
Or maybe you want to look cool at Burning Man or whatever anti-capitalist festival you attend. How special will you feel when you explain that the finish is not brown paint, but sealed rust?
You might remember how expensive bikes and bike parts got during COVID.
When gas is 10 bucks a gallon, and bikes are too expensive to import, what are you gonna do?
Wouldn't you want a bike that basically can't break?
It does brake, however. A Weinmann front caliper brake is paired with a rear coaster brake.
Rear wheel is a hand-built 26" Mavic rim around a Shimano 3-speed hub. Front is Weinmann Zac-19 with Shimano hub.
The vintage frame is a "youth" size with an extra-long seatpost, this bike will not fit tall folks--sorry.
Shifter is vintage Shimano 333 grip shift.
Built for bar-hopping and late-night shows, it is inconspicuous parked at night and is somewhat tweaker-resistant. The twin rails inside the frame hold a mini u-lock perfectly.
Built by me in the 90s, this is still the coolest bike in town, but I have too many bikes as it is.
