Job title: Overnight Sandwich Maker
Charlie’s Deli in Downtown Portland is hiring fast, high-energy Sandwich Makers for overnight shifts. We’re filling 2–3 positions in stages to build a rotating overnight team.
This is not a slow shop. We are a high-volume operation and we move quickly. We’re looking for people who stay engaged, take initiative, and work with urgency from start to finish.
If you’re someone who stands around, checks your phone, or needs constant direction — this is not the right fit.
OVERNIGHT SHIFT:
• Start: 1:30 AM
• End: 7:00 AM or 8:00 AM, depending on the day
• Nights + weekends required
• Must have reliable transportation
TRAINING & OVERNIGHT TEAM:
We’ll start by training our first new hire alongside an experienced team member. Once trained and ready, you’ll be expected to handle an overnight shift independently.
As we add our second and third hires, our goal is to have two people working each overnight shift, with a three-person rotation covering the schedule.

• $18/hr base + tips (~$23/hr average)

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
• Make sandwiches quickly and accurately
• Handle prep, cooking, and restocking
• Keep your station clean, stocked, and organized
• Follow systems and checklists
• Work as part of a fast, coordinated team
REQUIREMENTS:
• Reliable and punctual — no exceptions
• High energy and strong work ethic
• Able to handle fast-paced service
• Comfortable working independently after training
• 2+ years restaurant experience preferred
• Able to lift 50 lbs
Must be a team player. We rely on clear communication and mutual support. Employees are expected to respond to scheduling and coverage requests, communicate proactively when issues arise, and be receptive to coaching and feedback.
