Another find in a relative's trunk I'm slowly emptying.
Looked online to discover this is a split willow creel with leather body straps
Some advertise these having been made in Japan following WWII, but I can't see any markings on mine - possible because of wear?
Mine appears to be flawless except for one piece of wicker missing (see photo of left side of creel.)
There don't appear to be any breaks in the leather, nor missing stitches.
It obviously needs a good oiling on the leather components.
Hoping this can be added to someone's vintage collection, or maybe even used for fishing, although I'm not sure the straps could carry a heavy catch!
