This rare and gorgeous boat is a super agile little rocket thats both cozy and remarkably easy to carry at just 23 pounds and a bit over 10 feet long. Its a hybrid of a canoe and kayak. You sit or kneel on the bottom and use either a double bladed kayak paddle traditional canoe paddle. The Late Joel Flather of Rhode Island built/modeled this closely after James Rushton's Nessmuck Wee Lassie circa 1880's, just like the more common Wenonah Wee Lassie. I traded a 15ft QCC kayak for this, and let me tell you this little canoe is damn near as fast but way more agile/versatile/comfortable/lightweight. It tracks remarkably straight and turns on a dime. Its great for puddle hopping with easy portaging. I'm reluctantly selling this only because I bought a Hornbeck pack boat that's narrower and fits me better.
Its great for paddling narrow inlets and rivers, wide open lakes, fast runs, slow hang out floats, fishing, etc. Its roomy enough to sit or kneel in various positions and transition from sitting to kneeling on the water.
It is in remarkable condition and has been used very little. The photos shown were taken after paddling and there is a touch of dirt here and there I've since cleaned off. It is in 9 out of 10 condition with quite minimal tiny blemishes. The hull is nearly free from scratches, though a keel has a less than 1" long and skinny chip in the gel coat. Wood rails in great shape.

From Compass:
"A Cayak™ (pronounced just like “kayak”) is the creation of Compass Cayak™ blending the best features of canoes and kayaks. Based on the timeless hull shapes of J. Henry Rushton, 1880s Adirondack master canoe builder, Compass has married the speed, stability, and ease of paddling a kayak with the gear carrying capacity, openness and comfort of a canoe thus creating a Cayak™.
The Compass Cayak™ has a rounded hull shape for speed and is quicker than kayaks the same length. Stability is better than a canoe and equal to most kayaks. The seat is on the floor like a kayak and a double bladed paddle is used like a kayak but it’s even easier to paddle because it’s lighter. MUCH LIGHTER!!! Unlike a kayak, Compass Cayaks™ have tons of space for camping gear, a picnic lunch, fishing tackle, birding equipment and small, obedient dogs or children.
The open cockpit means instant access to everything while out on the water. No deck means no claustrophobia and no need to learn how to Eskimo Roll. Greater comfort comes from the hull shape that lifts the Cayak™ up and over boat wakes and harbor chop. Traditional kayak hulls are designed to drive through waves and wakes, which make them very wet necessitating decks and spray skirts."
