2015 Thoroughbred mare | 16H | Never raced | $1,500 OBO
Beautiful registered Thoroughbred mare La Dee Da Chick looking for her next person.
She is a 2015 model, approximately 16H, and has never raced. She is a gorgeous, athletic mare with plenty of potential, but she is simply too much horse for her current owner and has turned out to be more of a project than anticipated.
⚠️ Full Disclosure / Soundness
We want to be completely transparent with this mare and update her original ad because we do not believe in hiding problems or passing a horse along without disclosing what we know.
When the owner purchased her, she was sold with possible soundness concerns that were reportedly related to having soft feet. The owner was told this had been addressed/fixed. Unfortunately, she has recently started showing soreness again.
The owner has had the vet out twice and has tried different approaches, including shoes and shoes with pads. She will appear sound for a period of time and then, a few days later, may be walking sore again. At this point, we have not been able to determine exactly what is causing the recurring soreness.
Because of the financial cost of continuing to pursue an answer, the current owner is not in a position to keep sinking money into diagnostics and treatment.
We also want to make it clear that the owner feels she was not given an honest sale when she purchased this mare. We are therefore making every effort to be as upfront as possible about everything we currently know.
❤️ Her Personality & Training
Her background is somewhat unknown. We suspect she may have been through several different hands and may not have always been treated kindly.
Because of this, she does not immediately trust people and needs someone who is patient, calm, soft-handed, and willing to earn her trust rather than force it.
Once she warms up to you, she becomes a completely different horse. She has the potential to be a very loyal, one-person type of horse when she knows she can trust you.
She definitely knows she is 16 hands of Thoroughbred, so she needs an experienced, confident person who understands project horses and is comfortable giving her the time and consistency she needs.
She is not being sold as a finished horse, beginner horse, or guaranteed sound riding horse. She is being offered honestly as a project/rehab prospect for the right person.
Unfortunately, I do not have the time this mare requires, especially while I am currently putting time into my own green horse. We would rather be upfront about her situation and find someone who has the time, experience, patience, and resources to figure her out.

🔄 Trade considered: We are looking for a horse that is already started, with at least 90 days of consistent training/riding, preferably a willing-to-please type that can continue to progress with its new owner.
