Adaptive Swim Instructor – Inclusive Aquatics Program (Pasadena)
$22–$25/hour DOE | Part-Time with Growth Opportunity
The Rose Bowl Aquatics Center is seeking a compassionate and motivated Adaptive Swim Instructor to join our inclusive aquatics team. This role provides person-centered swim and water safety instruction to individuals with disabilities across all ages and ability levels.
This is currently a part-time position with the opportunity to grow into full-time as program enrollment increases.
Under the supervision of the Adaptive Programs Manager, the Adaptive Swim Instructor plays a key role in building confidence, independence, and water safety skills while fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Teach adaptive swim and water safety lessons to individuals with disabilities
- Adapt instruction methods using supports and equipment as needed
- Track attendance, complete assessments, and maintain participant records in our Athena platform
- Collaborate with caregivers and the Adaptive Programs Manager to set goals and monitor progress
- Prepare semi-annual/annual progress reports when needed
- Ensure sessions begin on time, organized, and with all equipment properly set up and stored
- Maintain a clean, safe pool and instructional environment
- Respond professionally to caregiver and family questions or concerns
- Attend in-service trainings and support ongoing program development
- Perform additional duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:
- 1+ year aquatic teaching experience
- Experience working with individuals with special needs
- Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification preferred
- CPR/AED certification preferred
Working Conditions:
- Outdoor work in varying weather conditions
- Regular contact with the public
- Must be able to work under pressure, exercise sound judgment, and meet deadlines
Physical Requirements:
- Repetitive motion related to swim instruction and coaching
- Use of computer, keyboard, and documentation systems
- Ability to demonstrate swim strokes and assist in pool operations
Pay Range:
$22.00 – $25.00 per hour, depending on experience
