Kathy’s Court is an 11 unit, 3 story complex is located in the Sullivan Gulch neighborhood. Originally constructed in 1975, the roof was replaced in November 2023 with other restoration improvements made to the basement & pipes more recently. All units have been remodeled. I have lived in my apartment for 5 years, with minimal concerns. Most other residents are long term tenants. We tend to get along & definitely watch out for one another. Two units have a child under the age of 10. Some tenants have cats/dogs and are cigarette smokers. All smoking is required to be done outside. Although I do not smoke….please note — if you’re sensitive to cigarette smoke, this will not be a place you will want to live. You will smell the smoke sometimes. The landlords are chill & usually communicate via text message/email. They visit the property as needed & one of them smokes. I also have a squirrel feeder in the courtyard - Squirrels are my spirit animal.
The bedroom (approx 11 1/2’ W x 13’ L) is inside a 700+ sqft / 2 bedroom / 1 bath unit on the middle/ground floor. It is the larger of the 2 rooms and has 2 closets along one wall. Window faces East. Both bedrooms share a wall in the back of the apartment, with an open living/dining room area & kitchen attached. There is one unit above & units on each side of the apartment. Aside from the bedroom, the rest of the space is fully furnished. There is not much room for more belongings, but there will be areas in the kitchen, bathroom & some space in the 2 common closets to store items. There is also an active RING security doorbell outside the front door and an air purifier in the apartment.
Bus lines are located w/in a few blocks on multiple streets & the Lloyd Center MAX stop is a half mile away….about a 10 minute walk. Bicycles can be locked up safe in our community basement.
My pet companion is an outdoor/indoor female cat named Lil Bean Butt, a 6yo Siamese mix. Bean gains access to the outside through the front door, which I typically keep ajar while she is out for recess. I manage the door & take measures in the summer & winter to mitigate cooling/heating costs. Bean must keep this access to the outdoors, so if you think you will feel uncomfortable with an ajar front door throughout the year, this may not be the best space for you. I have been in touch with the landlords about replacing my screen door with a metal pet door gate & we are looking at costs/process. Bean is shy at first & then friendly. Head bonks (nuzzies) are her favorite. Bean likes cat treats, not really human food, unless it’s milk. Ideally, I would love to have a roommate who would be willing to feed, water, care for my cat & clean the litter box when I am away adventuring…mostly in the summer. These are services I will also compensate for. Because of Bean’s current set up, no other pets will be permitted at this time, unfortunately. However, it’s definitely something we can reconsider in the future.
Personally, I manage diagnosed ADHD & OCD (germs/intrusive thoughts). I am neurodivergent. I stand a lot. I take prescribed medication & continuously work on my mental health. I value & spend my time intentionally as much as I’m able. I advocate & use plant medicines, including microdosing. While I don’t use anything with nicotine, or smoke much cannabis flower, cannabis is a part of my daily life. I drink responsibly, mostly when I am out at a drag/burlesque show or dancing. I consider myself an extroverted hermit….an ambivert. To recharge, I often retreat/isolate at home - my sanctuary. I love roadtrips & driving. My daily practices are rooted in Astrology, Paganism, Taoism, energy work, mindfulness & kindness. I've been a member of the Mt. Hood Rock Club for over 5 years. I believe in crystal/rock energy, which are displayed throughout the apartment. I like to burn Palo Santo & incense - sandalwood or nag champa varieties.
My calendar stays busy as a draglesque performer, storyteller, volunteer, committee(s) member, camper, pagan & gogo dancer. I’m an avid listener of audiobooks and I love to dance. Instagram is my only social. I only cook for others & when I camp. I’m also crafty, do puzzles, hand write poems & create medicinal body products. I don't watch normal TV, but I use a Roku streaming stick in the living room for access to what I do follow. I spend minimal time in my own bedroom, unless it’s bedtime. I almost always keep my bedroom door open since Bean likes her freedom. I am also known to sleep on the couch.
For now, I work as direct support professional serving individuals with intellectual & developmental disabilities. I am also looking for different work as my interest as DSP has run its course.
In the relationship world, I am Solo Poly & typically date 1-2 humans at a time. My current lover of 4 years stays over with me almost every Monday & usually another night during the weekend. We are solid. We will not live together.
My request is that any potential roommate will agree to…
-pay rent/utilities on time
-respect pronouns, personal space, identity & autonomy (you will get the same from me)
-have a reliable source of income
-move in with minimal belongings (apartment is fully furnished with the exception of bedroom - no extra storage)
-keep any addictions managed
-contribute to replacing common items (tp, soap, etc)
-communicate directly without projection, name calling and/or aggression
-consider caring for my cat when I travel (not a requirement)
-keep communal spaces free from dirt/mess
-NO racism, sexism, ableism, homo/transphobia, micro aggressions
With each roommate I have learned a balance between engagement & solitude. I will want to include you in holidays, birthdays & special occasions if there’s consent. Clear & direct is how I communicate. And sometimes I over share. I refrain from name calling & often lead with an inquisitive, curious mind. I try not to make assumptions or project my feelings/thoughts.
Thanks for reading all the way to the end! If you think this opportunity is worth pursuing, please respond & we can schedule a time for you to see the bedroom & space.
