CNC Set-Up & Programmer

PRO-LOK, a manufacturer and distributor of security door hardware tools and solutions, is seeking an experienced CNC Set-Up & Programmer for its manufacturing facility in Orange, CA. This position will report directly to the Machine Shop Manager.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The CNC Set-Up & Programmer will be responsible for writing and optimizing programs, performing complex setups, and operating automated machines safely to achieve company-specific production goals. This is a highly technical role utilizing both Haas and Fadal CNC mills, requiring a strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and quality control.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program and set up Haas and Fadal CNC mills for production runs.
Write, edit, and optimize CNC programs at the machine to maximize efficiency and tool life.
Select and install proper tooling, fixtures, collets, and work-holding devices.
Calculate and adjust cutting speeds, feeds, and depth of cut.
Operate multiple machines concurrently for production and inspect parts according to the production plan.
Perform first article inspections and verify conformance to complex work specifications and blueprints.
Troubleshoot machining issues, adjust offsets, and resolve quality problems during production.
Inspect parts using precision measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to ensure accurate measurements.
Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces of workpieces as necessary.
Comply with company policies and procedures, including counting parts and completing paperwork to prepare items for outside processing.
Clean and maintain the work area, machines, tools, equipment, and floors to ensure a safe environment.
Assist and mentor junior machine operators as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: 5+ years of experience in CNC machining, with a strong background in independent setup and programming.
Technical Skills: Deep understanding of G-code/M-code programming and the ability to read and interpret complex manufacturing prints and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in machining is highly preferred.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills; detail-oriented with the ability to follow and create technical instructions.
Teamwork: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with managers, leads, and fellow employees.
Physical Requirements: Must be in good physical condition, capable of lifting 50 lbs, and comfortable working on your feet.
Screening: Must be able to pass E-Verify, a criminal background check, and/or a pre-employment physical and drug screening.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar).
Advanced vocational training or journeyman machinist certification.
Previous experience leading or training machine operators.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay: $25 - $30/hr, starting rate based on experience.
Schedule: 40-hour work week with the potential for overtime if desired.

Retirement: 3% match SIMPLE IRA.
