Note: These have the FlexBay option which contains the NVMe (see top left in second picture). The Core i9-10900X supports extra PCIe lanes, so a second FlexBay (without an NVMe or carrier) has been added on the top right. The second NVMe carrier is available on eBay if you want to add a second NVMe. Either or both FlexBays on top can be used with a regular tray for a U.2 hard drive instead of the M.2 NVMe. The bottom two bays connect to the SATA controller, which won't run SAS hard drives. If you want to run SAS drives, you can use the bottom two bays, but you'll have to connect them to a SAS controller or RAID card which you'll have to plug into the motherboard (an adapter cable is required between the SATA cables and RAID card).

An untested parts machine will be thrown in for free with each complete T5820 bought. The parts machine will include everything except the CPU, memory, NVMe/carrier, SATA hard drive and video card. That leaves the case with all the trimmings, a spare motherboard, a spare 950W power supply, spare fans, trays, CPU heatsink, cables etc. It could easily be built back up as a second working machine. Note that the motherboard is the i7/i9 version with the X299 chipset and is not compatible with Xeon CPUs or Registered ECC memory. All the other parts are compatible with either motherboard.
Note: The Dell Precision T5820 hardware qualifies for Windows 11 (CPU, TPM 2.0 etc.), so the OS installation was as intended by Microsoft, not the work-around that limits the security features included in Windows 11. Support for Windows 10 ended in Oct. 2025.
Note: A test station is available, so feel free to bring your own diagnostic tools and check them out as thoroughly as you want before buying.
