Did some research and these are either very early or very late Sovtek amps. The 30 watts might have been intended or an accident and Mike ran with it. This one is very interesting in that it has the orange front panel while it retains a MIG-50 rear panel. Maybe this is one of the first. Maybe it’s one that was made on a day they ran out of MIG-30 rear panels. Beyond that. There’s not much more info I could find on these. With the 30 watt transformers, this amp has a lot more compression and seems a lot darker than the average Sovtek or EHX MIG-50. It’s definitely as loud as the real 50 watt models. Just reaches breakup a lot sooner. And on amp like this, based on the JTM45/‘59 Bassman. The sooner it breaks up the better.
It's been serviced by my amp tech/builder. He brought it back from the brink and it's running pretty good now but like all Sovteks it could use more TLC. So far is has received new power tubes, new volume pot, new speaker jacks, and new Soctek style knobs all around. I'll try get some updated pictures ASAP.
$1300 OBO but I’m mostly looking to trade for other sick amps and guitars
