I live in the house beside the cottage and care very much about you and the property, so I didn't leave anything out that I thought would make the cottage a wonderful place to be (given the space allowed). That being said, the space is very small, and being a studio it's just one room including the kitchen. The bathroom is small but cute, with three kinds of tile, and a very nice shower. There's a gas heater with thermostat, and a vent hood over the stove for funneling out your cooking air. The air flow in the space is lovely thanks to the many windows.
I would describe the cottage as perfect for someone who appreciates a small, intimate, peaceful space, as well as a wonderful, very
versatile kitchen with lots of storage. If you're looking for lots of room to spread out, or would be claustrophobic with a small bathroom, this may not be an ideal space for you.
There are several amenities: a small building behind yours contains a home gym space. There is a large yard with space for your own gardening. There is a hammock and a picnic table for having over company. You can come into the nearby home and do laundry through the back door. I have someone come twice a month to do the weeding and cut the grass.
I (your landlord) live in the house beside the cottage and am friendly, acerbic, with a dark sense of humor.
We are just a 15-20 minute walk to Farmer Joe's and the Fruitvale shopping district if you're without vehicular support, and if you have a car we're delightfully close to the freeway for your convenience (but just far enough to not hear the noise)!
Even though this part of Oakland has some uncomfortable streets scattered around, my street is a very cute one which I selected for
its peacefulness. My neighbors are all older homeowners and I never hear any partying. The only reliable noise (which you certainly can't hear from inside the cottage) is the children playing in the yard across the street. The only real sources of invasive noises are fireworks during fireworks seasons -- they are set off in large quantities nearby.
Utilities are included in this price, as is high-speed internet. Pets are considered on a case-by-case basis. Deposit is one month's rent.
