Helped a friend move recently and they gave me this: authentic stainless steel NYC subway grab handle (“straphanger” handle) from a Redbird-era subway car. These were used on many NYC subway cars from roughly the late 1950s until the early 2000s. The New York Transit Museum has even sold authentic surplus examples as memorabilia.

The hinge mechanism still works. This is substantial and heavy.
