A well thought out dining table for all occasions, the Hans J. Wegner’s CH337 dining table from 1962 is made of solid wood. With its inviting form and sublime comfort, and the possibility of expanding the seating to 8, the table is suitable for both everyday use and for parties. The design is characterized by its finely processed elliptical tabletop and its elegant tapered legs. The harmonious shape of the solid tabletop is one of the most eye-catching features, and with the wood’s cross grains, one can hardly see the join between boards. The horizontal rails are placed at an angle to support and control the wood optimally. They have been formed in such a way that they are tallest at the joints with the legs to give optimal support and lower where space is needed for legs. CH337 is one of a series of three tables in the same width, but with different lengths. They all have elliptical plates and are available with up to four loading leaves which allows the tables to easily be adapted to different occasions and tasks.
Well-crafted design and sublime comfort.
The CH37 dining chair from 1962, designed by Hans J. Wegner, is clearly inspired by the American Shaker furniture principles of simplicity, functionality and craftsmanship. The CH37 also displays many carefully considered details characteristic of Wegner’s style. The chair’s light, elegant appearance is created by the vertical round legs and a backrest which arches backwards - slightly more in the top than in the bottom - in order to achieve the best possible back support. The hand-woven paper cord seat and the gently rounded and flat armrests – fixed to the front legs with a distinctive cap – provide both comfort and sturdiness. The fascinating design of the CH37 dining chair offers a light and yet sturdy expression to comfortably seat many generations.
