Signed Thomas Moser solid cherry sofa table - $500 (Florence)

Signed Thos. Moser Cabinet Makers, Auburn Maine 1987 and then the artisans signature is Kevin ______ can’t quite make it out. This was the first year of their Auburn shop. This piece came from Mount Holyoke College Willits-Hallowell hotel/conference center which recently liquidated furniture as they are undergoing extensive renovations.
This piece presents well but does show the age and use one would expect from being it the lounge of a college hotel, scuffs dings and dents and a faint coffee mug ring. It has undergone some repairs/reinforcements. The top now is fastened with metal hold downs slotted into dados in the side skirts, a center block has been added and the legs have been reinforced to the skirt with triangular blocks. All additional reinforcements were professionally preformed by the Mount Holyoke Cabinetry shop using cherry wood. The piece is priced accordingly.
I found reference online to several other examples of this from the late 80’s/early 90’s with a 1991 example selling at auction theough a Nantucket auction house with a catalogue estimate of $800-1200. Asking $500 but very open to reasonable offers. This is a rare opportunity to own a vintage piece of legendary American craftsmanship. Thomas Moser has made furniture for 5 U.S. presidents and two Popes.
