Dougherty Construction, Inc. is seeing a motivated Apprentice Carpenter who is serious about developing their carpentry skills and building a long-term career in the construction trade. We are a well-established Napa Valley general contractor performing high-quality residential remodels, additions, historic renovations, commercial construction, and new construction. This is not simply a construction labor position. We are looking for someone with hands-on construction experience who understands basic tools and jobsite practices and wants the opportunity to learn from experience carpenters while developing into a well-rounded tradesperson.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
● Work directly alongside experienced carpenters and project personnel
● Assist with rough and finish carpentry
● Measure, cut, assemble, and install wood and other building materials
● Assist with framing, blocking, doors, trim, cabinetry, hardware, and miscellaneous carpentry
● Perform demolition and preparation associated with remodel work
● Safety operate common hand and power tools
● Maintain clean, organized, professional jobsites
● Learn proper construction methods and develop increasingly advanced carpentry skills
● Assist with residential, commercial, and historic renovation projects
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The ideal candidate has approximately 1-3+ years of hands-on construction experience and wants to advance their skills.
You must:
● Speak and read English
● Have a genuine interest in becoming a skilled carpenter
● Have working knowledge of common hand and power tools
● Be dependable, punctual, and ready to work
● Respect our clients, their homes, and their property
● Maintain a clean and safe work environment
● Be willing to learn and accept constructive instruction
● Have a valid CA driver’s license with clean record and reliable transportation
● Be physically capable of performing manual labor and lift up to 75 lbs
● BE LEGALLY AUTHORIZED TO WORK IN THE UNITED STATES AND PROVIDE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS UPON HIRE!
TOOLS:
Applicants should own basic carpenter's tools appropriate to their experience level, including:
● Tool belt
● Tape measure
● Hammer
● Speed square
● Utility knife
● Drill/impact driver
● Circular saw
Additional tools are a plus.
