Selling a 1995 Achilles Storm 10 inflatable boat. This is a rare, made in the USA model. This model features Achilles specialized SEA2O fabric (DuPont Elvaloy copolymer). the best of both worlds, an incredibly tough boat with the UV advantage of Hypalon and the relative ease of repair of a PVC boat as it is a polyester based material, I spoke to Achilles about this and the told me only the U.S. produced boats at the time offered this, The fabric shows its age and cosmetic wear, but it remains solid, heavy-duty, and completely serviceable.
Current Condition -
Main Tubes: The main hull fabric holds air fine. However, one of the 2 main air valves has detached cleanly from the factory glue, the other one looks like its in need of preventive servicing. The original valve is fully intact and included.
The Fix: A professional shop up in Rodeo, Ca. (S.F. Bay Area) quoted $350 to install standard Boston valves.
Or if you are comfortable with this kind of project, DIY sort of person, your cost would be just the solvents and cement (again PVC cement) to make the repairs, most likely under $100.
Inflatable Keel: Has a slow, manageable air leak, will usually hold for a few hours, actually requires very little air to fill.
Pictured also are two repairs that were existing when I got the boat, I had it out a few times and no problems from either one. I might mention that I am showing pictures of the inflated boat (before the valve detachment) as you can see the transom cuffs are in great shape, the boat only weighs 68 lbs. which for me is about max for carrying around and loading it in a car, truck or on a trailer, most boats of this size are around 100 lbs. these days and are not nearly this well built or tough. I was running a 8hp outboard, rated for up to 10 (probably 2 stroke rating), planed great with the 8 hp.
Here is the manufacturer's link to the model year catalog for further specs:
Boat comes with 2 paddles, a lined carry bag (which works, but is needing sewing repairs) and a foot pump. the original detached valve and associated pieces will be included (pictured) also. Current model Achilles boats are around $3000, you could fix this one for @ 25% of that, these as rare as they are, in working condition sell for @ $1200 when you can find one.
Boat is available in Monterey for pickup.
