The Founders: St. George instruments were named after Anthony George, who managed several music stores in New York and traveled to Japan to source high-quality, affordable guitars.
Japanese Manufacturing: The majority of classic St. George acoustic and electric guitars were built in Japan by factories like Fujigen Gakki (who also built guitars for brands like Ibanez and Greco) and Shiro.
California Connection: A smaller, highly prized subset of St. George guitars was crafted in Riverside, California, by master luthier Paul Barth.
