Sage Educators is seeking talented math, science, English, and humanities tutors to join our in-person team in Marin County, California. We’re looking for recent college graduates and young professionals who are academically strong, enjoy working with kids, and can step confidently into tutoring sessions mid-school year. Full-time and part-time positions are available.
We’re looking for strong math tutors who can teach across a broad range, from Pre-Algebra through Calculus; science tutors comfortable with advanced coursework, including AP Chemistry and AP Biology; and English and humanities tutors who can support students across grade levels, from elementary school through high school.
Just as important as subject knowledge is the ability to connect with students. Our best tutors are kind, personable, funny, thoughtful, and smart. They know how to build rapport, make learning engaging, and help students feel comfortable asking questions, working through challenges, and growing in confidence.
What We Do
Sage Educators provides individualized academic support, tutoring, and test prep (SAT, ACT, SSAT, and ISEE) for students and families throughout Marin County. Our environment is calm, focused, and relational. We believe great tutoring combines strong subject knowledge with genuine connection, thoughtful instruction, and the ability to meet each student where they are.
What You’ll Do
-Tutor students one-on-one in your strongest subject areas, supporting a range of ages, abilities, and academic goals.
-Jump into sessions with students who are already partway through the semester and need immediate, effective support.
-Explain challenging concepts clearly, assess understanding, and adapt your approach to each student's needs.
-Build positive relationships with students while maintaining a focused, productive learning environment.
-Work independently, using your own academic strengths, judgment, and creativity to guide instruction.
-Support students across different curricula, school expectations, and learning styles.
What We’re Looking For
-Strong academic knowledge in math, science, English, humanities, or a combination of subjects.
-A genuine ability to connect with kids and teens across different ages and personalities.
-A warm, approachable personality. You're kind, personable, curious, and able to bring humor and levity to learning.
-Confidence, flexibility, and good judgment when stepping into unfamiliar assignments or picking up where a student left off.
-Clear communication skills and the ability to explain complex ideas in ways students understand.
-Independence, initiative, and a willingness to learn and grow as an educator.
Recent college graduates are especially encouraged to apply. Prior tutoring or teaching experience is a plus, but we also value people with strong academic foundations, a natural rapport with young people, and the ability to translate what they know into effective teaching.
Qualifications
-Bachelor's degree required.
-Strong academic background in one or more relevant subject areas.
-Prior tutoring, teaching, mentoring, or other experience working with young people strongly preferred.
-Availability for consistent in-person work during the school year.
-Willingness to commit through at least the 2026–2027 academic year.
Hours & Schedule
During the school year, our tutoring hours are primarily:
-Monday–Thursday: 2:00 PM–10:00 PM
-Sunday: 12:00 PM–8:00 PM
-Both full-time and part-time schedules are available, depending on subject expertise and availability.
