Very Custom Mountain Tandem for Adult + Very Young Kid
This is a one of a kind front suspension mountain bike with a modified frame to fit an adult captain (front, roughly 5’ 5” - 6’) and a child as young as 4yrs on the back.
It’s started out as a steel non suspension Raleigh Tandem with 1 1/8 inch headset. This allowed RockShock gold suspension fork. The top set of chainstays and section of rear set post was removed to allow the rear seat to go super low. A new disc brake mount welded on the rear by a bike builder friend. Rear cranks are drilled and tapped so the effective length is shorter (or can be remounted in original position) for tiny legs.
It’s got new Shamino hydraulic SLX disc brakes for stopping.
SPD locking pedals front and rear — rear being a great pair of rare platform spd locking pedals. I’ll throw in a pair of brand new super small spd shoes, never worn.
Climbed Tam with my daughter a number of times. Much better than a trailing bike as kid actually pedals with you and can help. She’s now riding on her own so time to find a new caretaker of this machine.
