We are seeking an experienced Rear Packer Garbage Truck Driver to join our team based out of Maspeth, Queens. The position involves operating a rear-load garbage truck throughout New York City and surrounding areas while safely and efficiently completing assigned routes.
Responsibilities
Safely operate a rear packer/rear-load garbage truck
Complete scheduled commercial and/or residential collection routes throughout NYC and surrounding areas
Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
Safely maneuver the truck in tight NYC streets, loading areas, alleys, and customer locations
Follow all DOT, NYC, company, and safety requirements
Communicate with dispatch regarding route progress, customer issues, delays, or equipment problems
Maintain accurate route and service records
Keep assigned truck reasonably clean and report maintenance issues promptly
Work effectively with helpers and other crew members
Qualifications
Valid CDL required
Rear packer/rear-load garbage truck experience strongly preferred
Experience driving commercial vehicles in New York City is highly preferred
Clean and acceptable driving record
Knowledge of NYC streets and the surrounding areas
Ability to safely operate a large commercial vehicle in tight urban environments
Dependable, punctual, and able to report to our Maspeth, Queens yard
Must be able to meet all applicable DOT and employment requirements
Must be willing to work early-morning and/or overnight routes as required
Compensation
$32–$38 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
