1. The Monster Power Home Theatre PowerCenter HTS 3500MKII
A high-performance power conditioner and surge protector designed to be the “backbone” of a mid-to-high-end home theatre system. While Monster is no longer the dominant player it once was, the HTS 3500 MKII remains a sought-after unit for its robust build and specific filtering technology.
2. Core Features and Technology
Clean Power Stage Filtering: The units standout feature using specialized filters to remove electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI) from your AC power line. Stage 3 provides three isolated filter banks:
Video Filter: Optimized to reduce “snow” and artifacts in displayus.
Audio Filter: Designed to lower the noise floor for receivers and pre-amps.
High-Current Filter: Dedicated outlets for power amplifiers and subwoofers to allow for peak power demands without current limiting.
Dual Mode Protection: If a surge occurs that is too large for the unit to handle, it will automatically disconnect your equipment and sound an audible alarm.
Sequential Power Up/Down: This protects your speakers and amplifiers from the “thump” or “pop” that occurs when multiple high-power components are turned on simultaneously. It staggers the power to specific outlets.
3. Technical Specifications
Total Outlets: 10 Surge-Protected Outlets (color-coded and labeled)
Surge Energy Rating: 2,775 Joules (high-capacity protection)
Voltage Meter: Front-panel analog-style LED voltmeter to monitor incoming line voltage.
Max Current: 15 AMP/ 1800 Watts
Extra Protection: 3 sets of Coaxial (Cable/Sat) and 1 phone line (with splitter).
Remote Trigger: 12V DC input for remote turn-on from your AV receiver.
Cable: 8 ft. Monster PowerLine 200 cord for maximum power transfer.
Chassis: Heavy-duty, rack-mountable metal chassis with a brushed aluminum faceplate.
Ergonomics: Back panel is clearly labeled with specific icons for DVD, Receiver, TV, etc., to help match components to the correct filter bank.
Visual Indicators: LEDS for Ground OK, Wiring Fault, Clean Power On and Timed On.
4. Condition
The unit has had limited use, was put in storage and is in nearly new, excellent condition with no operational defects or cosmetic damage. Blue backlighting on the voltmeter display is fully functional by turning the dimmer knob clockwise going from no backlighting to the maximum brightness. The face of the Analog Voltmeter is evenly lit and the numbers on the dial are clearly visible in the dark.
