The Host/Hostess is the first and last point of contact for guests, responsible for creating a warm, welcoming experience from arrival to departure. This role manages the flow of guests into the dining room, ensuring an efficient and pleasant seating process while supporting overall restaurant operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet guests warmly upon arrival and thank them upon departure
Manage the reservation system and waitlist, providing accurate wait time estimates
Seat guests efficiently, balancing sections to ensure smooth service for the kitchen and waitstaff
Answer phone calls, take reservations, and answer basic questions about the restaurant (hours, menu, parking, etc.)
Maintain a clean, organized host stand and entryway
Present menus and communicate any specials or changes to guests
Coordinate with servers and management on table status and timing
Handle guest concerns or seating issues calmly and escalate to a manager when needed
Assist with light cleaning, resetting tables, or bussing during peak periods as needed
Maintain knowledge of the floor plan, table numbers, and seating capacities
Qualifications:
Prior customer service or hospitality experience preferred, but not required
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Professional, friendly demeanor and appearance
Basic math skills for managing waitlists and reservations
Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
