So I made a mistake and listened to AI well clearing out an old Apple laptop that I wanted to use as a movie storage device in my home. AI instructed me to delete the hard drive to get rid of the old information on the computer and not knowing much about computer computers that’s exactly what I did… the problem is that the battery has been bloated so I had taken the battery out and I cannot download a new copy of the operating system without a battery from Apple’s website because the computer is pretty much running at half speed. My intention was to just keep the computer plugged in and not have to pay $100 for a battery since I’m just using it for movies.
Now it’s stuck without an operating system because AI gave me bad advice lol. So I’m looking for somebody who might have a copy of macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 bootable USB installer. For an older model, MacBook Pro A1286. According to Google I need a 16 GB USB flash drive that’s been turned into a full off-line bootable installer for an older model MacBook Pro A1286 for the exact version of macOS High Sierra 10.13.6. Google says it must be a full off-line installer roughly 5.2 GB of data sitting on a flash drive not an Internet recovery shortcut stub. And it won’t work with a disk so it has to be a flash drive…..
Honestly, I’m completely illiterate when it comes to computer computers. I’m just trying to get this one back up and going so I can create this movie server. With the extra things that I have laying around my house. Looking online they usually run around 15 to 20 bucks. I have no problem paying that I just needed to work and I thought maybe somebody might be computer savvy enough to know how to do this, or may even have a copy already. So I figured I’d post it here. It’s worth a shot.
