About the Role
The Green Deli is looking for a skilled, reliable, and customer-focused Deli Associate to join our team in Lynbrook. We pride ourselves on providing high-quality service and fresh products to our community. The ideal candidate is an expert behind the counter, comfortable handling premium meats and cheeses, operating professional slicers with precision, and maintaining a clean, efficient workspace.
Key Responsibilities:
Meat & Cheese Preparation: Expertly slice deli meats and cheeses to customer specifications using commercial-grade slicers.
Customer Service: Provide friendly, prompt, and knowledgeable service; offer product recommendations and maintain a welcoming atmosphere.
Food Safety & Sanitation: Adhere strictly to NY health department regulations, including proper food storage, temperature monitoring, and frequent sanitization of equipment and surfaces.
Order Fulfillment: Prepare made-to-order sandwiches, wraps, and platters efficiently and accurately.
Inventory Management: Assist with stocking display cases, rotating perishable inventory (FIFO method), and tracking low-stock items.
Point of Sale: Operate cash registers and handle transactions accurately.
Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of experience working in a deli, butcher shop, or similar food service environment is required.
Technical Skill: Demonstrated ability to safely operate professional meat slicers and knives.
Food Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of cross-contamination prevention and food hygiene standards.
Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 30 lbs.
Reliability: Flexible availability, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
