Very heavy. In two parts: Antique cast iron treadle from 1890 and beveled tempered glass. Can include a granite top too!
The wheel and pedal are detachable, allowing you to use the cast iron base as a standalone furniture frame.
Very rare and collectible cast iron base from 1890! On these earlier models, the "Pitman arm" (the rod connecting the pedal to the wheel) was often made of wood and is indeed present here.
The "holy grail" for many treadle enthusiasts: The Wooden Pitman Arm. By the early 1900s, Singer switched almost entirely to metal rods. A wooden Pitman arm is a "smoking gun" for an early model and is highly sought after because they often rotted or broke over the last 130 years.
The base has some rust in a few spots (wheels, screws) from being kept outdoors (easy to clean). The tempered glass top is very heavy and has some scratches. You will need to buy suction cups to secure the glass top to the base if you buy both pieces (easy to attach into the existing holes and cost $1-$2). You can also use your own piece of marble, granite, wood etc. with this cast iron base for a different look.
