DO YOU LOVE BRINGING ORDER TO CHAOS?
I'm a busy working mom with three amazing kids looking for a Household Operations Assistant to help keep our home running smoothly. This IS NOT housekeeping or a nanny position. It's a blend of home organization, light chores, meal prep, and errands.
I'm looking for someone proactive, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently. If you naturally notice what needs to be done and love checking things off a list, we'd probably be a great fit.
RESPONSIBILITIES
HOME ORGANIZATION
This is the heart of the role. I'm looking for someone who understands that organizing isn't hiding things in baskets. Everything should have a logical home and be easy to find later. Responsibilities may include:
* Organizing mail and paperwork
* Organizing children's toys, books, and household items
* Maintaining organizational systems
* Helping create new organizational systems when needed
* Keeping commonly used spaces functional and clutter-free
The goal is to make our home easier to live in, not simply cleaner to look at.
LIGHT HOUSEHOLD CHORES
Professional housekeepers handle our deep cleaning every other week. This role keeps the day-to-day tasks under control between visits. Responsibilities include:
* Dishes
* Laundry
* Light kitchen cleanup
* General tidying and resetting common areas
* Other light household chores as needed
I do dishes and laundry as well and occasionally use fluff-and-fold. I'm looking for someone to consistently pick up some of the extra slack so things don't pile up.
MEAL PREP ASSISTANCE
I'm not looking for a personal chef. This is about making meals, snacks, and school lunches easier throughout the week. Examples include:
* Washing and chopping fruits and vegetables
* Preparing ingredients for weeknight meals
* Assembling freezer-ready crockpot meals or occasionally starting one for dinner
* Organizing waters, snacks, and lunch items for the week
* Creating simple systems so grab-and-go snacks and lunch items are easy to assemble each day
* Preparing items such as cut fruit, sandwiches, or other fresh snacks every few days as needed
You don't need to be a great cook. Basic kitchen confidence, willingness to prep, and an ability to create simple systems are what matter.
WEEKLY ERRANDS
Weekly errands may include:
* Returns and exchanges
* Dry cleaning pickup and drop-off
* Post office and shipping
* Prescription pickup
* Donations
* Other small errands around town
Routine grocery shopping generally isn't necessary because I use grocery delivery.
Mileage for errands using your personal vehicle will be reimbursed at the current standard mileage rate in addition to your hourly pay.

SCHEDULE & TRAINING
Approximately 5–10 hours per week, spread throughout the week to keep small tasks from piling up.
* Ideally 2-hour visits, at least three days per week
* Weekday daytime availability (Monday–Friday) is required
* Preference given to candidates who live locally due to the short, frequent schedule
* First 2–3 weeks will include hands-on training and establishing household systems
* After training, you'll work primarily independently
* Approximately 30 minutes each Friday will be used to plan the following week's priorities
OPTIONAL ADDITIONAL HOURS
This is not a nanny or babysitting position, but there may be optional opportunities to transport my children to activities, appointments, or practices. Note: This is completely optional and will not affect your candidacy
* In addition to the regular 5–10 hours
* Paid at the same hourly rate
* Based entirely on your availability
* May include weekdays or weekends
WHO SHOULD APPLY?
You do not need previous experience in this exact role. This could be a great fit for:
* Executive or administrative assistants
* Project coordinators or project managers
* Professional organizers or household managers
* Teachers
* College students (18+)
* Anyone who has successfully managed a busy household and genuinely enjoys organizing
Applicants should have reliable transportation and be comfortable running local errands.
There is a difference between cleaning up and organizing. Putting everything into a basket isn't organization if no one can find it later. I've completed home organization training and will teach you the principles and systems I use. Formal experience isn't required if you have a natural aptitude for organization and are willing to learn.
HOW TO APPLY
Please send:
* A brief introduction and why you think you'd be a good fit
* A summary of relevant work or life experience (resume optional but encouraged)
* Your general weekday availability
* Whether you're open to optional kid transportation for additional paid hours
Qualified applicants will be asked to provide references during the interview process. References will not be contacted until after the initial interview. Final candidates will also be required to successfully complete a background check.
Finally, please include the phrase "Everything has a home" so I know you've read the posting carefully.
IN CLOSING
Thank you so much! I need help so I am grateful to all who apply. Please note it usually takes me about a week to begin responding and I will do my best to respond to everyone. Note: One-line or generic responses, or applications that do not include the information requested above, will not be considered.
