The strongest touring motorcycle ever built in a factory is the Triumph Rocket III Touring Model. With 2.3 liters (140 cubic inches), this bike has 500-600 ccs more than other touring bikes. This engine produces 145 lbs. of torque out of the factory. RC Cycles in Hayward, CA added a Dynojet Power Commander to optimize the air/fuel mixture. This improved the torque another ten lbs. to 155. See attached performance charts by RC Cycles. Bob Lobenberg, who had been fine tuning bikes for twenty years every day, said he had never seen these numbers. I can’t say enough about this motor.
The center of gravity is very low so that it handles nimbly and is very stable in strong crosswinds. It weighs 850 lbs. wet but handles like it is 200 lbs. lighter. The factory exhaust was very quiet. Preferring a louder note, I installed pipes from the Texas based, D&D Performance Exhaust in Fort Worth.
The triple headlights are very effective. With the black and white paint, the bike has a retro police cruiser vibe. The gold striping accent the black and cream white. The bike has always been garaged and has never fallen over.
The large saddle bags made by Saddleman have many convenient dividers for clothing. I have never used these because saddlebags are sufficient.
Besides the awesome paint, I added a Corbin touring seat and a behind the seat rack, which the Saddlemen luggage (included) rests on if overnighting. The minimal backrests and rear seat rack are detachable. It has night cruising lights that change color, a 5-position vent recurve detachable windshield makes cruising very comfortable. The recurve sends the wind over your helmet, which makes a difference on long trips. I am 6’1” so my helmet sticks above the windshield. The windshield literally clips on and off in seconds.
Why am I selling it? I live in the country with animals. It used to be great for trips into town to the post office, bank, and groceries. But in the last few years I am finding I need chicken feed or too many large objects that won’t fit. I am not driving it enough. It only has 14,249 original miles. If you are an experienced rider, you will love this ride.
