It allows you to override a chest freezer's built-in controls. By bypassing the default deep-freeze, you can easily turn the freezer into a standard refrigerator or a kegerator.

Johnson Controls. Plug it in, drop the temp monitor in your chest freezer, and you can regulate your chest freezer to refrigerator temps. Actually, the range of temperature you can hold is rather wide.

I’ve utilized this to cold ferment a lager beer/brew. I have also utilized it by placing large brining buckets in my freezer (w/ this control) to brine multiple turkeys for the holidays, as well as brining a brisket in to pastrami before it hits the smoker!
