This is a STUNNING, old school style heavy leather lawyer’s or academic’s briefcase or satchel!
It is in like new condition in so many ways. Ever sit in a finely crafted saddle? If you have, you know the sound of fine leather. That sound, and the quality of this fine leather is exactly what you get with this case.
Just like the little rubber nobbies on a new tire, this has threads still remaining to be cut from the time when the craftsman sewed the leather pieces together.
It is 19” wide, 14” high, and will expand to about 7” or more deep to hold a boatload of materials.
It has three full-sized, divided compartments. A handy pouch snaps shut to hold smaller items organized at hand and secure.
The corners are reinforced with brads. The buckles are solid brass-like material, polished and quite attractive. One can secure the bag with the metal keeper and plate locking mechanism on the front.
The bag has a bit of “provenance”…I used this satchel when I worked the beltway in Washington D.C. in the early ‘90s. But I only used it rarely, and mention it only to date the bag for the era in which it was constructed. They just don’t construct them like this anymore!
This is the type of bag that my old professors used. It would make a perfect gift for that older person in your life. Or it might be that perfect gift for the new lawyer graduate, PhD grad, or business major. Or it could be just that right thing for you or anyone who appreciates fine quality of an earlier era.
