Fine Art Starts Instructors:
• Share fine art skills in a variety of media with K-5 students
• Lead students in proper care and use of art materials
• Get paid while supporting students become more fluent in expressing their own ideas through art
• Different locations in Beaverton, SW Portland, SE Portland, Tigard and Tualatin.
We're a local non-profit fine art school for K-8 students since 1997. We're looking for experienced, enrgetic, bright individuals to instruct and inspire young artists through demos, hands-on practice, and then applying those skills in final art projects.
Our students look forward to the highlight of their week: ART class! They're excited to come to class and practice their skills! We do not teach crafty or make-and-take projects. We teach fine art skills in fun ways.
Please be available to work 1-4 afternoons per week (whatever fits your schedule), on Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs starting at approximately 2:30 PM for 1-1.5 hours per afternoon. If this fits your schedule, please respond to this ad. We are hiring asap for classes that begin between October and January.
LOCATION
Tigard/Tualatin and Lake Oswego
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
• Love kids and art!
• Ability to manage a classroom with up to 16 kids.
• Enjoy and have RECENT experience (currently or within the last 2-3 years) working with groups of children
• Have a valid driver’s license and dependable car to get to school locations
• Have a fun and outgoing personality while being responsible, dependable and consistent
• Have experience with drawing, painting (and a little clay would be great)
• Pass a background check and mandatory reporter training
• Be able to work independently as well as in a team situation
• Be able to multi- task, make sound judgments and demonstrate appropriate role modeling
• Positive attitude in actions and words
EDUCATION
• Preferred: Associate's and/or Bachelor's Degree in Art, Fine Arts, or Education -and/or- equivalent studio art / life experience to match
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
• Arrive early to the school and carry/cart-in art supplies
• Keep students safe, and report and injuries (emotional/physical) immediately
• Offer best tips and examples for students to follow
• Instruct step-by-step art lessons that allow for students’ creativity within the project
• Prepare materials (paid for and provided by Fine Art Starts), and keep supply bins organized
• Keep student portfolios and their artwork safe
• Clean up and leave the classroom as clean or better than when you arrived
COMPENSATION
$40-$60 per class once a week (classes are 1-hour long), dependent on your experience and the enrollment of the course. $25/hr to shadow a current Instructor.
