Murphy Construction Services Inc. (MCSI) is seeking an experienced independent contractor to run residential and commercial tenant finish projects on site as a Working Supervisor. This is a 1099 contract engagement, not an employee position.
MCSI is a Longmont, Colorado general contractor with 25 years in business, serving homeowners and commercial clients in the Boulder and Denver areas. You bring your own business, tools and methods. You stay hands-on in the work while coordinating the site so that each project meets its plans, specifications and completion schedule.
SCOPE OF SERVICES
The work combines hands-on trade work with on-site coordination, and each project's scope is set out in a written agreement.
- Perform hands-on carpentry and related trade work on residential remodels, new homes and commercial tenant finishes
- Coordinate trades and deliveries on site to meet the agreed completion schedule
- Review plans and specifications, and raise conflicts or field issues early
- Inspect completed work against the plans and specifications
- Maintain a safe, clean and code-compliant site, and be on hand for inspections as needed
- Report progress, schedule risks and material needs to the MCSI project manager
- Flag proposed scope changes in writing before the work proceeds
QUALIFICATIONS
You need an established independent business and a track record of running construction work on site.
Required:
- 5+ years of construction knowledge and experience
- Able to read plans and specifications, with working knowledge of building codes
- Able to manage projects on site, including schedules, trades and deliveries
- Must have your own tools, equipment and reliable transportation
- Current general liability insurance, and workers' compensation coverage where applicable
- Willing to sign an independent contractor agreement and Colorado's Declaration of Independent Contractor Status
Preferred:
- Experience with custom homes, high-end remodels and commercial tenant finishes
- Experience in Boulder and Denver area permitting and inspections
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
CONTRACT TERMS
- Engagement: 1099 independent contractor, per project
- Compensation: $45-$55 per hour
- Payment: Paid to your trade or business name on submitted invoices
- Location: Project sites in the Boulder and Denver areas
- Taxes and benefits: You pay your own taxes; no employee benefits are provided
- Anticipated start: ASAP
