A Warehouse Assistant manages daily logistics operations, including receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping inventory. They ensure order accuracy, maintain warehouse cleanliness, and operate equipment like forklifts or pallet jacks to move goods. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and often, familiarity with inventory management software.
Key Responsibilities and Duties Receiving & Storing: Unload incoming deliveries, inspect goods for damage, verify quantities against purchase orders, and safely store items in designated locations. Order Fulfillment: Pick, pack, and label products for customer orders efficiently, ensuring accuracy in high-volume environments. Inventory Control: Perform regular stock counts, update inventory logs, and report any discrepancies, shortages, or damages to supervisors. Shipping & Logistics: Prepare, stage, and load outbound trucks, including creating shipping documents and tracking reports. Safety & Maintenance: Keep the warehouse clean, organized, and safe by clearing debris, following safety regulations, and safely operating machinery such as forklifts or electric pallet jacks.
Key Requirements and Skills Physical Stamina: Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy objects (often up to 50 lbs) and stand for long periods.
Experience & Licensing: Previous experience in a warehouse setting and a valid forklift license (or willingness to obtain one) is frequently required.
Technical Skills: Basic proficiency in, or ability to learn, inventory software, scanners, and, occasionally, office software like Microsoft Excel.
Organization: Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate tracking of inventory
