The cover is black suede and looks very good on 1998-2005 models because it pairs well with the black steering wheel and black radio.
The dashboard is very flat and this cover lays down nicely. It was cut perfectly for my truck, but you may need to enlarge the hole for the automatic headlight sensor because the exact precise placement of that sensor slightly varies from truck to truck from the factory
