We are looking for an experienced and compassionate certified tutor/teacher to homeschool our 10-year-old son in our Gresham home.
He is a very happy, verbal, social, and funny kid who loves to smile and has a wonderful sense of humor. He is a great kid who does best with one-on-one attention, patience, consistency, and an individualized learning approach.
We are looking for someone who has experience working with children on the autism spectrum and understands that every child learns differently.
Ideal candidate should have:
- Teaching or tutoring certification/credentials
- Experience teaching children with autism
- Experience working with children with dyslexia or learning differences
- Knowledge of special education and individualized learning strategies
- Patience, creativity, and a positive attitude
- Ability to create engaging lessons while adapting to his individual needs
- Experience with homeschooling or one-on-one instruction is a plus
Dad works from home, and Mom owns a business nearby and is in and out all the time, very flexible schedules. So we are looking for someone who can take the lead with his education during the school day. We have chosen homeschooling because we feel he needs a more individualized environment with consistent one-on-one attention. We have been unable to find this through traditional school options.
Schedule:
Monday–Thursday
9:00 AM–12:00 PM
4 days per week / 12 hours per week
Pay: $40/hour
The tutor would work directly with him in our home and help develop an educational routine that supports his academic, social, and developmental needs.
We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with children and sees the ability and potential in kids on the spectrum, rather than focusing only on their challenges.
