Up for sale is A FENDER VIBRO-KING TYPE CSRA (CUSTOM SHOP/AMP DIVISION MODEL DESIGNATION) WITH SERIAL NUMBER 1686. The Fender Vibro King CSRA is a highly regarded, hand-wired boutique tube amplifier produced during the "Zinky Era" at Fender’s Corona, California facility. Based on production records and serial history, this amplifier was manufactured in approximately 1996 to 1997. It has lived in a Smoke-Free, Temperature-Controlled home recording studio, so it is in perfect working condition and excellent cosmetic condition. ASKING $2199.00.
This item is posted for sale to raise funds to help pay medical expenses for a friend, a highly respected Musician, Recording Engineer and Educator who suffered a debilitating stroke around 3 years ago. The stroke left him completely paralyzed on his left side. Recognizing and accepting that he will no longer be able to use his home studio, I have been asked to help liquidate his equipment.
SPECIFICS FOR THIS AMP:
• The "Type CSRA" Mark: This designates the Custom Shop Reverb Amplifier series. While the general catalog model is often denoted as "CSR 4", the chassis and safety compliance stickers on early/mid-90s models read Type CSRA.
• The Revision Status: By serial number 1686, this unit sits right in the sweet spot of production. The earliest Vibro-Kings (1993–1995) used an EL84 tube to drive the onboard '63-style reverb circuit, which frequently suffered from overheating and tube failure. Your mid-90s unit likely features the upgraded, much more reliable 6V6 reverb driver tube circuit.
