A galvanized iron earthing electrode is made from iron. Has a protective zinc coating. The zinc protects the iron earthing electrode from rust when the galvanized iron earthing electrode is buried. Because of this protection the galvanized iron earthing electrode is an economical choice, for many earthing setups.
Challenges with Rust and Weak Coating
Iron that does not get galvanizing rusts very quickly in damp soil. Iron weakens when the electrode weakens. Iron loses contact with the ground. Iron’s earth resistance then goes up.
