About the Role
I am seeking a reliable, trustworthy, and hardworking assistant to help maintain our home’s exterior, care for our animals, and assist with hands-on property upkeep throughout the year. This is a highly flexible, active role perfect for someone a high school juniors or seniors or college kids, who enjoys working outdoors, loves animals, takes pride in clean work, and enjoys helping others. You will also occasionally assist an independent 70-year-old resident with physical tasks and lifting stuff around the house.
Seasonal Responsibilities
Year-Round Animal Care: Maintain feeding schedules, change water, and general care for 7 chickens, 2 bunnies, and an indoor saltwater fish tank. Common sense and attention to animal well-being are essential.
Fall & Winter: Snow removal, general outdoor maintenance, hanging and taking down holiday decorations, and assisting the resident with moving stuff around or physical tasks as needed.
Spring: Setting up the garden shed, preparing lawn and garden beds for the summer, and general exterior cleanup.
Summer: Garden weeding, mowing, pool maintenance, power washing, and general property detailing to keep the exterior looking fantastic. Occasional touch-up painting and preparing the home's exterior for photos and showings.
Requirements & Qualifications
Communication: Exceptional communication skills. You proactively check in, ask questions when clarification is needed, and communicate what was and how was completed or any issues encountered.
Reliable transportation to and from the property; someone preferably living within 10 miles of the Miller Beach community.
Work Ethic & Detail: Strong attention to detail, proactive work ethic, and a commitment to always cleaning up thoroughly after finishing a job.
Character: Responsible, honest, and completely trustworthy.
Reliability: Dependable
Physical Ability: Capable of outdoor manual labor (mowing, power washing, shoveling snow) and occasionally lifting heavy objects.
